Marineland Antibes insists on transferring its orcas and dolphins to Spain, to Malaga and Tenerife

LE FIGARO NEWS - While a permit application to transfer ten dolphins to Malaga has just been filed by the park, a new expert appraisal has also been ordered by the courts following a request from the NGO Sea Shepherd.
The management of Marineland in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes) is still considering transferring its last cetaceans to parks in Spain and has filed a new permit application to send ten dolphins to Malaga, to the "Selwo Aventura", according to information from Le Figaro . Contacted, Marineland confirmed this request dated last week and "reaffirmed the extreme urgency of transferring the animals to an operational destination" . The Côte d'Azur marine park has been permanently closed for six months, but the future of the two orcas and the twelve remaining dolphins is becoming more than a puzzle .
These last cetaceans were due to head to the Canary Islands in April, particularly the orcas, and to Madrid Zoo for the dolphins, but the Spanish scientific authority opposed this transfer at the last moment due to facilities deemed unsuitable.
