Two apartments destroyed in a fire in Agonac

On the night of Monday, June 16th to Tuesday, June 17th, a fire started in a deep fryer in an apartment in Agonac. The fire spread to other apartments. Firefighters were still on site Tuesday morning.
A violent fire broke out during the night of Monday, June 16th to Tuesday, June 17th, around 2:30 a.m. in the commune of Agonac, at 20 Avenue de la Beauronne. The fire, which was caused by an accident, started in a deep fryer, according to initial reports. The flames spread quickly, completely destroying two apartments located in the building in question.
Two other homes, located in the same building, were saved thanks to the rapid and coordinated intervention of the firefighters. Twenty-five firefighters were mobilized at the height of the intervention, supported by three fire hoses, to stop the spread of flames to the entire structure.
Fortunately, no one was injured among the occupants, who were all evacuated in time. However, during the intervention, a firefighter was injured and taken to Périgueux Hospital. The material damage is considerable. As a safety precaution, the road was closed to traffic for the duration of the operation. At the time of writing, firefighters are still on site, in addition to an Enedis team.
The fire also caused a power outage for 24 customers in the area. The town's mayor, Christelle Druillole, visited the scene. She said she "met with the victims who will be rehoused." Nearby businesses remain open, and schools have resumed.
