Kazuki Yamada to leave the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2026

He will not be renewing his term. In a press release sent on May 5, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra stated that Kazuki Yamada recently informed the board of directors, chaired by the Princess of Hanover, that he would not be seeking a renewal of his term. His term will therefore end in August 2026, after ten years in this position.
An "intense and fruitful" collaboration, judges the OPMC board of directors in this press release, "Kazuki Yamada has chosen to invest himself in a new professional adventure, notably with his recent appointment to the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, for which the board of directors offers him its warmest congratulations. This new step constitutes a logical and remarkable continuation in the development of his career as a conductor." Since 2021, the 46-year-old conductor, originally from Japan, has also been principal conductor and artistic advisor to the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
"Solid professional and friendly relationship"
In the Principality, the OPMC has already launched a recruitment process "to appoint its future artistic director, convinced that this new stage will allow it to continue its development." Finally, the board of directors expressed "its gratitude to Master Kazuki Yamada for the quality of his commitment and his artistic standards. The solid professional and friendly relationship that has been established during this decade with the musicians, the administrative and technical team, but also the public, will continue throughout the 2025-2026 season, and well beyond."
