Métabief. Straw Festival: Our Editors' Favorites and What We Liked Less

Deluxe. This is the editorial team's favorite! The Aix-based band had already played at La Paille in 2015, and we couldn't wait to see them again in Métabief. We weren't disappointed. What energy! The band had promised a brand new show, for the first time in 15 years. It was very visual, intense, and captivated the audience from the very first notes! Muchas (sorry, mustache!) gracias…

When Hatik covers Johnny Hallyday . In the middle of his concert on Friday, Hatik had a surprise in store for the audience. While he was talking about the friendship he has with his team, the rapper suddenly started talking about dreams. While he achieved his dream of going on stage, this was not the case for Arnaud, a member of his team and a fan of Johnny Hallyday... Who, as a result, was invited by the rapper to join him on stage to cover the song Allumez le feu with him, in a crazy atmosphere. Hatik joked on stage by promising a great career to "Jarno Hallyday".
Sledding. Dancing, singing, and drinking are all fun, but you have to admit that summer sledding adds a little something extra, an unexpected touch of madness. The music and lighting gradually get louder as you climb, creating an almost surreal atmosphere: even far from the stage, you never really lose the party vibe. It's definitely worth doing—and during a concert, to avoid the crowds!
Saïan Supa Celebration's beatbox. In concert, we're used to seeing singers sing and musicians play their instruments. But it's very rare to see a singer singing an instrument. It was this exceptional talent of Sly Johnson, one of the four members of Saïan Supa Celebration , that impressed the audience throughout the concert, with a beatbox demonstration and an instrumental accompanied by scratches and bass coming from the artist's guts. These passages gave even more depth to a show that delighted Saïan Supa Crew fans.
Lighting. It's a bit lacking when night falls. On a sloping site, and even more so on slightly muddy ground (thanks to the weather!), the risks of falling flat on your face are all the greater since you can't see much (even when you're perfectly sober, by the way!). This is certainly not unique to La Paille, but not all festivals are held at the foot of ski slopes, and while this is precisely what makes the festival so charming, it can be a disadvantage in this respect.
The weather. We can only blame the whims of the sky , and we share the slight disappointment of the organizers, who would undoubtedly have preferred the sun to warm up the atmosphere even more (even if it was not lacking on the site!). But we must admit that Saturday evening, we tolerated the turtleneck sweater (understatement). We particularly sympathized with the campers. It was also at the campsite, known for its improvised games (beer-pong, ventriglisse, etc.), that the party was not as crazy as in the past.
