Treasure hunt and sculptures: an art hike in the Meuse

Report Created in 1997 in the Grand Est region, the Vent des Forêts contemporary art center brings together 150 works to be discovered along 45 kilometers of marked trails in the Meuse forest.

It's a forest treasure hunt for the aesthete Little Thumb... Instead of following pebbles along a path, we look out for works scattered throughout the woods. They were designed by artists in residence, staying with local residents, who worked with local materials and artisans... to be installed in the great outdoors. Thus, the Vent des Forêts contemporary art center has maintained the same principle since its creation: extending over 5,000 hectares spread across six communes in the Meuse between Bar-le-Duc and Verdun, it is dedicated to outdoor artistic creation. Today, 150 works mark 45 kilometers of trails across seven circuits, to be explored on foot or by mountain bike. Well-maintained and with little elevation gain, these paths are accessible to all, all year round and free of charge.
