Beaune. At Tillot, two-wheelers have been around for centuries since the 1930s.

Faubourg Madeleine, the Tillot boutique is one of the historic businesses in downtown Beaune. Officially founded in 1957 by René Thillot—who named his business Tillot, without the “h” to differentiate between his private and professional life—this bicycle shop is, in reality, much older. “His father, Auguste Thillot, had already been in this business since the 1930s, but the shop was across the street,” proudly recounts the company’s current manager. He is none other than François Gauthier, Martine Thillot’s son and the fourth generation of bicycle salesmen in the family.
