If finally adopted, the measure will come into effect on August 11, 2026, the end date of the contract with Bloctel, the system in place to combat unwanted canvassing and criticized for its lack of effectiveness. (Sebastien Lapeyrere/Hans Lucas)
Telephone canvassing should soon be banned if the consumer has not previously expressed consent. The measure will have traveled well through Parliament before finally reaching consensus within the Joint Committee (CMP) on "the fight against fraud involving public aid" , which met this Tuesday, May 6. This is the penultimate step before its adoption (barring any surprises) by the end of the month by both chambers.
Having entered the parliamentary debate in September through a bill from the senator for Aisne (Les Indépendants - République et Territoires), Pierre-Jean Verzelen, the ban on abusive commercial canvassing is finally included in the text.
