François Bayrou at Matignon, June 26. (Albert Facelly/Libération)
These are missives from Matignon with delightfully poetic names: framework letters and orientation document. They were also sent to employee and employer representatives during one of the slowest weekends of the year: August 9. It is not certain that this choice will calm the discontent of the union organizations, all persuasions combined. And for good reason: the letters in question confirmed, after François Bayrou's intervention on July 15 , the government's intention to place a significant part of the upcoming budgetary "effort" on workers, with the planned elimination of two public holidays , and on job seekers.
