Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Cervical Cancer: A Major Awareness Campaign Throughout June

Widespread in France since 2018, the organized cervical cancer screening program addresses a real public health challenge. This cancer, largely preventable thanks to vaccination against the human papillomavirus (HPV) and regular screening, nevertheless remains too little known or neglected.
This year, the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Regional Cancer Screening Coordination Center (CRCDC-BFC) is launching the Printemps du Cervique (Cervical Spring) for the first time, a regional event dedicated entirely to raising awareness about cervical cancer. This event aims to inform, mobilize, and encourage women to take action for their health.
More than a thousand deaths each year in FranceFor your information, this disease affects more than 3,100 women each year and kills 1,100. However, it is possible to prevent it with two complementary means: vaccination against HPV (human papillomavirus) from the age of 11, and regular screening, recommended from the ages of 25 to 65.
The goal is to achieve a screening rate of 80%. However, it currently stands at only 59.5%. Côte-d'Or is doing better, with a rate of 68.1%. Many healthcare professionals can perform this screening: gynecologists, midwives, general practitioners, and now, medical biology laboratory practitioners. It must be performed every three years from the ages of 25 to 30, and every five years from the ages of 30 to 65.
