Utah Senator Mike Lee Needs to Learn to Shut Up

The shebeen always has kept an eye out for Senator Mike Lee, the famous ‘konztitooshunal skolar’ from the state of Utah, who has gone from a radical fan of the Tenth Amendment to a radical fan of whatever popped out of Donald Trump’s comb-over today.

Anyway, back in Salt Lake City on Saturday, there was gunfire that left one dead at a ‘No Kings’ rally. Given the events of the past weekend, perhaps they should memorialize it as ‘No Kings and Too Damn Many Guns Day.’ Anyway, Mike Lee sought to mark the day by being a childish omadhaun all over Xwitter. Lee posted, “This is what happens when Marxists don’t get their way,” Sunday on X, along with a photo of the suspected shooter released by the FBI, showing a masked man at the door of a lawmaker’s house. Lee followed up with another post of the masked man’s photo alongside a headshot of Vance Boelter, the 57-year-old suspect, with the text “Nightmare on Waltz Street,” an apparent reference to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D).

I think I speak for the entire class when I say, “Christ, what a colossal dick.”

Reaction was fierce and swift—only about a quarter of what Lee deserved—Washington having abandoned the pillory long ago. Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar went to town on Lee first.

“I have condemned what Mike Lee did here at home, and I will speak to him about this when I return,” Klobuchar said on MSNBC.

Wait till Mom gets home, Mikey.

“And what I’m going to tell him is: This isn’t funny. ... This was an incredible woman, her husband, her two kids—yesterday on Father’s Day, there was no Father’s Day for them,” she said. “They lost both their parents.”
