Shooting: Gold, silver and bronze for Thomas Chinours in France

"I really didn't think I'd achieve this result in the standard sprint." Thomas Chinours, a member of the Périgord Shooting Society, still can't believe it. In a discipline that wasn't his favorite at the start, he managed to win the gold medal and the title of French champion. On the contrary, in the Olympic sprint, where he should have dominated the competition, Chinours had more trouble. "I almost got eliminated from the final," he explains. "But I was able to recover and come back level with the French champion. In the end, it's a close call," continues the Périgord native, who leaves with the silver medal around his neck.

All of this took place on Thursday and Friday in Déols, near Châteauroux. But the French Championships continued until Saturday, and Thomas Chinours was still in contention for the precision final. "Not really what I prefer," the young man said. And yet, after Thursday's gold and Friday's silver, Thomas Chinours took bronze.

Europe in the back of my mind

At these French championships, Thomas Chinours showed his potential. This bodes well for the European Championships, which will take place at the end of July. "My goal is to bring home a medal, it's simple," insists the Périgourdin. He will compete in Olympic sprint, his favorite discipline, and in P25 (25m precision).

But before that, on Tuesday, Thomas Chinours will be heading to the Czech Republic for a competition, where he hopes, once again, to win and stand out.
