One more year to spend your Air Canada Aeroplan points

Air Canada customers will have an extra year to use their Aeroplan points that were due to expire by the end of the month.
The airline announces that the planned date of November 30, 2025 is no longer valid and that it is extending the eligibility of accumulated loyalty points until November 30, 2026.
"It's an extension of the expiry suspension, so it's simply to give people an extra year," explains Air Canada's vice-president of communications, Christophe Hennebelle.
He explains that Aeroplan points normally expire after 18 months of inactivity on an account.
However, this policy was temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic in July 2020. Since then, the suspension has remained in effect and is now extended until November 2026.
"Yes, this is good news that gives more flexibility to use the points," adds Mr. Hennebelle.
Program overhaulLast August, the airline announced a major overhaul of its loyalty program.
Thus, from January 1 , 2026, Aeroplan members will accumulate points based on their spending rather than on the distance traveled.
The Aeroplan rewards program was acquired in 2018 by a consortium consisting of Air Canada, TD Bank, CIBC Bank and Visa Canada.
