Tributes pour in after Armagh All-Ireland winner dies in road accident

Aoife Lennon died after her car collided with a lorry on the N2 in Castleshane, near Monaghan Town on Wednesday.

Lennon is former Armagh player and won both an Ulster JFC in 2004 and All-Ireland JFC in 2005 with her county.

She also picked an Armagh JFC with her club, Derrynoose.

As noted in a tribute from the LFGA, she “served as an Ulster GAA coach and she visited many primary schools across Armagh, teaching the fundamentals of Gaelic Games.”

She is survived by her wife Karen, her parents, and brothers.

The secretary of Armagh Ladies Football Association, Emma Oliver, said: “Everyone in Armagh LGFA is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our former player Aoife Lennon, R.I.P.

“Aoife was part of our Junior All Ireland winning team in 2005 and Ulster winning team in 2004.

“We would like to send our condolences to Aoife’s wife Karen, parent’s Seamus and Adele, brothers Patrick and Sean, her nieces, nephews and wider family circle. We also keep in our thoughts Aoife’s friends and former teammates in Armagh LGFA and Derrynoose GAC.”

Further tributes poured in from Ulster GAA and Armagh GAA.
