A restless child in class, his classmates return to class. But a new case emerges.

Florence, November 8, 2025 – The strike against the restless child has ended, but the resumption of classes was marred by yet another unpleasant incident. The student, for whom the parents of other children are demanding immediate support , yesterday, while running around the classroom, as he apparently often does, "accidentally hit the teacher in the back ," the mothers report.

A strong blow to the back

It all happened in an instant. The boy gets up and runs, a little girl takes cover behind the teacher, perhaps to avoid colliding with a running classmate, and the teacher suddenly feels a sharp blow to her back . Headbutt, elbow? Who knows. The fact is, the teacher, leaving the classroom so as not to frighten the children, tried to get treatment from the custodians . But since the pain wouldn't go away, an ambulance was called. From there, she was taken to the Careggi emergency room, where the teacher was released with a two-day prognosis .

The parents' request

The incident draws attention to the request from the parents of the child's classmates for institutional intervention to restore calm in the classroom , where the child, whose behavior has been causing difficulties, arrived at the beginning of this school year. Because the situation became difficult, the parents kept their children home on Wednesday and Thursday. Only the restless child showed up to class.

"We reiterate that we are not protesting against the child. We are simply asking for help , for him and for our children," the mothers say. "It's clear that the teachers need support."

A little girl at Meyer

Parents report kicks, shoves, and trips. It also emerged that recently a little girl had to go to Meyer after she injured herself during one of the "somewhat dangerous games" played by the child, who simply wants to joke and have fun, but often ends up losing control. In this situation, attending class becomes a mirage.

"This is why we went on strike ," the mothers reiterate. "We're neither self-centered nor selfish. Certain labels have hurt us. Before speaking out, perhaps we should better understand the situations. Our protest was a cry for help, and afterward, certified emails were sent to no avail."

The acting principal prefers to remain silent. The school board is also working with the school to identify the best solution. The City of Florence is also considering how to help the class, likely with ad hoc projects. Meanwhile, Paolo Bambagioni, city councilor for the Eike Schmidt Civic List, has submitted a question "also to urge social services."

Mothers: "We must protect our children"

The mothers shrug their shoulders: "The school hasn't sent us anything official. We're sorry for the situation, but we have to protect our children, both personally and academically. The child's mother, however, knew about the strike. She could have kept her son home to prevent him from being alone. The mother no longer participates in the class chat, but she's still being informed. We imagine she didn't like our initiative, but, we reiterate, we took strong action only to finally try to get a response."
