Planeterranea, the future of diets and lifestyles. Colao: The importance of spreading a correct diet

Planeterranea is the title of the international conference promoted by the UNESCO Federico II Chair for Education for Health and Sustainable Development that will take place for four days at the Regina Coeli Monastery in Naples (Vico San Gaudioso, 2) from 18 to 21 June. This initiative follows the one held at the European Parliament last March entitled “Nutrition and Health: From Mediterranean to Planeterranean Diet”.

“Our goal is to spread the principles of lifestyle and proper nutrition of the Mediterranean diet and promote a diet that can be truly planet-earthly,” said Professor Colao, one of the most important Italian scientists recognized in the world. “In this sense, a commitment from the world of science but also from European politics is needed to ensure that each country can develop its own correct principles of nutrition by enhancing its own products and traditions by adapting them according to the principles of the Mediterranean diet because nutrition is the only widespread system, together with a correct lifestyle and physical exercise, that can truly make correct prevention of numerous diseases possible and therefore improve the health and life of citizens. And at the same time, make the well-being of our planet as a whole,” concluded Colao who hosted experts from all over the world who, thanks also to the Onfoods Yale project, discussed, among other things, the future of research and innovation in the Italian agri-food system; of the role of Creative Cities in promoting healthy lifestyles; of Quantum Agriculture and the Mediterranean Diet. And among the many present there was also Daniele Del Rio, coordinator of Onfoods, the Foundation that is concretely committed to improving the future of the community and the supply chain through a new model of sustainable nutrition. A goal made possible thanks to a new and unprecedented form of collaboration between 26 entities involved in the food and nutrition sector, with prestigious university and research institutes in our country.
