For a special evening dedicated to American cinema, on Friday 4 July at 7 pm, the protagonists will be the American director and screenwriter Ari Aster together with the director Bennett Miller – previously scheduled for Sunday 6 July, but which will be brought forward due to unforeseen events. Ari Aster, born in 1986, is an actor, director, producer, screenwriter and in 2025 he presented his new film Eddington at the Cannes Film Festival, with Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal; Bennett Miller, an American director and film producer, is known for films such as Capote (2005), Moneyball (2011) and Foxcatcher (2014), which earned him two Oscar nominations for best director.
Meeting with Anne Applebaum and Stefano Albertini On Saturday 5 July , the American historian Anne Applebaum will speak. She is a journalist and author of fundamental essays on totalitarianism, and in 2004 she won the Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction. On Sunday, July 6, the festival will close with a conversation on the theme of 2025 between Antonio Monda and Stefano Albertini, director of the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò in New York and professor at the Department of Italian Studies at New York University. Interviewed by Monda on the theme chosen for this 2025 edition , the guests will discuss the word “Taboo” , an invitation to explore what, in different cultures, eras and social contexts, has been marginalized, forbidden or censored. A journey through the boundaries of the sayable and the unsayable, the licit and the illicit, to question what is still considered a taboo today, how moral and cultural limits change, and what role art, literature, critical thinking and creativity have in overcoming – or preserving – those boundaries. For the 2025 edition, guests between Capri and Naples, from June 27th to July 1st, included Daniele Mencarelli, Manuel Vilas, Annabelle Hirsch, Fulminacci and Massimo Cacciari.
The Festival Le Conversazioni, conceived by Antonio Monda and Davide Azzolini , celebrates its 20th edition this year. The 2025 calendar confirms once again the strong identity of a widespread festival that ranges across different cities and nations.
