The Guido Dorso Award for the Mediterranean Area will be presented in Naples

The city of Naples hosts for the second time the award ceremony of the section of the International Award “Guido Dorso” dedicated to the Mediterranean area. The 2500 years of Naples confirm its role as one of the strategic hubs of the Mediterranean between past, present and future. The initiative, promoted by the Dorso Association in collaboration and with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples and the University “Federico II”, will be held at the Federico II Congress Center in via Parthenope, Thursday 3 July, at 10:30, with the participation of the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi and the rector of the Federico II”, Matteo Lorito and other institutional representatives. Professor Salvatore Capasso, director of the Department of Human and Social Sciences of the CNR will give a report on Mediterranean Perspectives. The director of the Mattino, Roberto Napoletano , will lead and moderate the proceedings. This year, the awards were assigned respectively to the Istituto Affari internazionali , chaired by Ambassador Michele Valensise, for studies on the Mediterranean area and to The international Propeller Clubs , chaired by Umberto Masucci , for the primary role played by logistics operators in Mediterranean traffic. “ The event, organized in synergy with other cultural and scientific institutions – as has been announced Nicola Squitieri , president of the Dorso Association – will act as a worthy and prestigious prologue to the 46th edition of the awards ceremony for the other sections of the Dorso Award, which will be held on October 9, in the Senate, with the support of the President of the Republic and the patronage of the Senate, the CNR and the University of Naples “Federico II ”. The Award – Squitieri explained – aims in particular to valorize the commitment of those, individuals and organizations, who distinguish themselves in promoting and supporting the development needs of the Mediterranean area, objectives that have received renewed sensitive support from the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi and the Rector of the “Federico II”, Matteo Lorito” . “ For the Mediterranean – observed Francesco Saverio Coppola , general secretary of the Dorso Association – it is necessary on the one hand to promote an ever-increasing knowledge and on the other to increasingly focus on the commitment of men and women and institutions that fight on a daily basis to have a Mediterranean of peace and egalitarian development, giving life to a Third Sector network among the countries of the macro-area as we will propose in my speech. Naples and the South, the geographical center of the macro-area, can play a primary role. The event in Naples aims to be one of the “lighthouses” of the South in the Mediterranean”.
