I, never investigated, judged ineligible for Rende by the Anti-Mafia Commission: I will not withdraw

The case in Rende
The statement of a candidate for the Rende elections shot down by the anti-mafia “special tribunal”. But she has never even been investigated

In agreement with the mayoral candidate Giovanni Bilotti , whom I thank for his trust and support, I firmly confirm my candidacy and I have no intention of withdrawing. With dismay and indignation I learned, just 4 days before the vote, that the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission has released a list of so-called "unpresentables" in which my name also appears. A choice that raises many questions, in terms of timing and methods, and that risks generating a poisoned climate right on the eve of the electoral consultation.
My inclusion in that list is not based on any fact, accusation or proceeding against me. There is no investigation, no judicial act, no dispute against me. My name does not even appear in the prefectural reports. I am implicated exclusively for having held an institutional role in a municipal council dissolved for alleged mafia infiltration, without ever having been personally implicated in any venue. Until 2015, the Anti-Mafia Commission had almost never made public lists of “unpresentables,” but starting in 2018, under the presidency of the 5 Star Movement, this practice became more structured, with extensive controls and increasingly frequent communications to the media. Today, under the leadership of Fratelli d'Italia , continuity is given.
A dynamic that, especially when not accompanied by objective and verifiable data, risks replacing justice with suspicion, fueling what I call a justicial drift. I have always fought justicialism. Not today, not for convenience, but always out of conviction. I have always believed in guarantees, in the strength of law, in the presumption of innocence as a pillar of democracy. And today this battle for me takes on an even deeper meaning, because I also fight for those who have no voice, for those who suffer the same treatment in general indifference. The many expressions of solidarity that I am receiving in these hours confirm that my citizens know how to distinguish between those who work to build and those who use institutional tools in a questionable way, risking influencing the vote. But the Calabrians are not intimidated. And neither am I.
I firmly reject a narrative that wants Calabria to be a prisoner of a destiny that is always the same: corruption, wrongdoing, collective guilt. A narrative that relegates us to political and cultural subordination. Calabria is also redemption, honesty, competence, dignity. And I, with my story, am concrete proof of this. To those who try to stop me, I respond with my commitment. To those who want to bend me with suspicion, I respond with my transparency. To those who sling mud, I respond with my daily work. I move forward with my head held high
