Solbiate Arno - Suspected case of Dengue in Solbiate Arno: mosquito disinfestation starts - - Varese News

A suspected case of Dengue has been reported in Solbiate Arno : this was communicated by ATS Insubria , which informed the Municipality of the presence of a person resident in the area who tested positive for the disease upon returning from a trip abroad.
Dengue is a viral disease that is transmitted through the bite of infected mosquitoes of the Aedes genus, the same ones that can also carry viruses such as Chikungunya and Zika. For this reason, Mayor Oreste Battiston has signed an urgent ordinance to start an extraordinary disinfestation in the area around the home of the affected person.
What happens nowIn a specific area of the country , treatments against mosquitoes, both adults and larvae, will be carried out . Specialized operators will intervene in gardens, courtyards, terraces and squares, both public and private. The operations will also be carried out house by house, to identify and remove possible larval outbreaks such as stagnant water or saucers.
What citizens should doAnyone who lives or has a business in the affected area must: Allow pest control personnel access to outdoor areas; Follow the instructions of the staff to prevent mosquitoes from re-propagating. During the period in which the treatments will be carried out (the date will be communicated on site and may vary based on the weather), the Municipality recommends some simple but important precautions:
Keep doors and windows closed and turn off air exchange systems; Keep animals indoors and cover kennels, bowls and objects outside; Collect fruit and vegetables from the gardens, or cover the plants with sheets; After treatments, wash fruit and vegetables well before eating them and wait at least 15 days if they have not been protected.

Furthermore, it is advisable to protect yourself from mosquito bites with mosquito nets, repellents and covering clothing, especially during the most critical hours of the day.
A preventive action for everyone's healthThe intervention is purely precautionary and serves to prevent the disease – contracted abroad – from being transmitted locally by mosquitoes. At the moment there are no other cases and the situation is under control.
