Health is the first sector for the use of artificial intelligence. In the last three years there has been a 400% increase in molecules under development in the world identified thanks to AI algorithms”. This was stated by the president of Farmindustria Marcello Cattani , on the occasion of the Health Innovation Show event, organized in Rome by Fondazione Mesit. “Thanks to artificial intelligence, preclinical research times for new molecules have decreased by 40%. And the use of artificial intelligence – said the president of Farmindustria on the sidelines of the event – is also essential in monitoring therapies: it allows a 20% increase in therapeutic adherence and an improvement in the patient's quality of life estimated at around 40%”. As for digital technologies and the health system, 24,000 new pharmaceutical and medical products are currently being developed worldwide. While telemedicine, which allows access to health services even in internal areas of the country, is already used by 80% of pharmacies. “All this – he concluded – is the result of research and investments by many pharmaceutical companies, but the country needs reforms to guarantee and attract more and more investments in innovation”.
