LECCE - Lecce returns to victory and can now believe in salvation. Marco Giampaolo's team beat Torino 1-0 in the match at the Via del Mare, valid for the thirty-seventh day of Serie A 2024/2025, and takes an important step towards remaining in Serie A. The hosts absolutely need a win and immediately try to raise the pace of the game, but struggle to create any danger. In the 15th minute, the Granata team comes close to scoring the lead with a nice left-footed volley from Gineitis, on which Falcone makes a great save. Five minutes later, Baschirotto heads in a cross from Helgason, but his conclusion is easily defused by Milinkovic-Savic. In the 26th minute, Krstovic warms up the engines with a low right-footed shot, which ends just wide. Gaspar, deployed from the 1st minute despite not being in top condition, proved decisive in the half hour, when he managed to find an excellent anticipation on Adams, ready to shoot towards the goal. After a moment of confusion, Torino returned to being dangerous with Vlasic who wasted an excellent cross from Lazaro from a good position. In the 40th minute Helgason let loose a dangerous curling shot, but Milinkovic-Savic outdid himself and thwarted the threat. At the end of the first half Pierret was forced to leave the pitch due to injury, and Ramadani came on in his place.
The two teams go to halftime with the score at 0-0. At the start of the second half, it is the new arrival Ylber Ramadani who receives the ball from Krstovic and scores a great goal from distance into the top corner. Lecce, on the wings of enthusiasm, tries to take advantage of the positive moment to double their lead: Krstovic finds himself one-on-one with Milinkovic-Savic, who however hypnotizes him. In the 67th minute, in the space of a few seconds, the Apulians have a double chance to make it 2-0, first with Coulibaly and then with Rebic, who however fail to convert. Paolo Vanoli tries to rely on substitutions to restore balance to the match and in the 79th minute, two men who have just come on, Perciun and Sanabria, create a good chance, but the Paraguayan's assist finds no free teammates. In the final minutes, the team led by Marco Giampaolo managed the advantage and took home a 1-0 victory that was fundamental in the fight for survival. Thanks to this result, Lecce climbed to seventeenth place with 31 points, while Torino remained eleventh with 44 points. On the last day of the championship, the Salento team will play for survival in the away match at the Olimpico against Lazio, while the Piedmont team will be playing at home against Roma.
