Pogacar flies in the Peyragudes time trial and strengthens his yellow jersey: he now has a 4-minute lead over Vingegaard.

PEYRAGUDES – And that's 21. Tadej Pogacar is hot on the heels of André Darrigade in the ranking of multiple Tour stage winners. Peyragudes 's time trial told the same story once again: Tadej first, Vingegaard second. The difference this time was 36 seconds, with both riders using very different technical setups: Pogacar on a climbing bike, Vingegaard on a time trial bike and helmet. Nothing changes: the Slovenian's lead in the standings has grown to over 4 minutes (4'07"). What more can be said? A strong Vingegaard, however, even caught Evenepoel, who had started two minutes earlier. But behind him was the unleashed Tadej.

Fourth stage victory

No one can do anything. This is already Pogacar's fourth stage win of this Tour, his first in the yellow jersey: in 118 career stages in the yellow race, the Slovenian has a very high victory percentage (almost 18%). The battle for third place is getting interesting: Evenepoel (+7'24" from Pogacar) has only a 6" advantage over Lipowitz, fourth in the Peyragudes time trial behind an excellent Primoz Roglic. The tenth-placed rider, Matteo Jorgenson, is almost a quarter of an hour behind Pogacar, a sign of the enormous gap the Slovenian is making everywhere. Tomorrow is the final stage in the Pyrenees, from Pau to Superbagnères with Tourmalet, Aspin, and Peyresourde before the final climb above Luchon, 12km at 7%. How long will Tadej last at 21km? “I'm so happy; this time trial has been a question mark for me since December. Everything went great. I gave it my all from start to finish. The choice of bike? We did our calculations, and I chose the most comfortable bike. In the end, it was the perfect choice. I rode without a radio, and I had the intermediate time markers. At the second intermediate, I had a good lead and was able to push less in the final stages.” Luckily for Schmid, Girmay, Demare, Reijnders, Merlier, and Mezgec, the jury had increased the time limit difference based on the winner's time from 33% to 40%: they would all have gone home.
