Careggine (Lucca), August 17, 2025 – The 24th edition of the uphill race began in the village of Isola Santa , in the municipality of Careggine , leading, after 14 kilometers immersed in nature, to the capital. The overnight storm quickly dissipated, leaving room for breathtaking views with the Apuan Alps providing the backdrop for a day of sport and beauty.
We are in the province of Lucca , in the heart of the Garfagnana : here lies Isola Santa, a tiny village of stone houses with slate roofs and a small church reflected in an artificial lake. A place that seems to have come straight from a fairytale, capable of enchanting all who visit. The race was born here, thanks to the commitment and passion of Graziano Poli , president of the ASD Parco Alpi Apuane , a native of these lands. His childhood spent next to the recently restored church inspired an event that has grown over the years, attracting over 200 athletes again this year, despite the initially inclement weather.
The event was impeccably organized by the Gs Alpi Apuane under the aegis of Uisp, with the patronage of the Municipality of Careggine, the Union of Municipalities of Garfagnana and with the photographic collaboration of ETS Regalami un sorriso .
