Prato, August 16, 2025 - He joined Lazio last summer after a phenomenal season and had the chance to make his Serie A Elite debut. He joined another Prato rugby player who trained with Cavalieri Union, Matteo Morelli. Unlike Morelli, however, Cesare Zucconi will not be returning to Iolo: the 2004-born rugby player, who grew up in the "tuttineri" youth system, will apparently remain in Serie A Elite with newly promoted Biella. Official confirmation from the Piedmontese club is pending, a deal that Cavalieri sporting director Francesco Fusi had already announced a few days ago. The Prato-born flanker, who has been called up several times for the Italy U20 team, was a key figure in Alberto Chiesa's Cavalieri's run in the 2023/24 Serie A season, which culminated in a playoff appearance and a win in the first leg of the semifinal against CUS Torino. Following Lazio's downsizing (which, following its relegation from Serie A Elite a few months ago, will restart in Serie A2 instead of A1, ed.), Morelli has decided to return to Chersoni, despite offers to remain in Serie A Elite. Zucconi, still only twenty-one, has also attracted interest in the national top division. He has decided to stay in the division: barring any surprises, he will be one of Biella's new additions.
