Rugby, the Knights are targeting Montano for Serie A: debut against Florence

The "Montano" of Viale Galilei
Prato, August 24, 2025 – After nearly two years, the Cavalieri will gather tomorrow at the Montano for the start of their preparations. The facility on Viale Galilei, renovated with a new synthetic turf pitch following work completed in recent weeks, is also expected to host the first home match for Alberto Chiesa's men in the upcoming Serie A2 championship (scheduled for October 26 against UR Firenze). One thing is certain: the Montano will host the first friendly for captain Puglia and his team, against Livorno on September 20. This will also include the All-Blacks' third pre-season friendly, against Calvisano on October 5. The icing on the cake will apparently be the derby against Florence, but the club intends to use the Montano as an alternative to Chersoni for subsequent home matches as well. Perhaps starting again, after the home match against Florence, with the home match against Rugby Roma Olimpic on November 30.
On December 7th, the "tuttineri" will travel to the Marche region for an unprecedented clash with San Benedetto, before heading to Abruzzo on December 14th to face L'Aquila (in a revival of their Eccellenza years) and thus close out the year. The "biggest match" of the new year will undoubtedly be against Lazio, which two seasons ago was worth a playoff spot and will likely be decisive again this time: on January 18th (seven days after hosting Roma Rugby), the Cavalieri will travel to the capital to face the Biancocelesti. The first half of the season will conclude on January 25th against Polisportiva Paganica, before restarting against Civitavecchia and facing the other teams once again. In short, the "heart" of the senior rugby movement seems ready to move from Iolo to Santa Lucia.
