Wimbledon, Musetti KO in the first round: with Basilashvili it ends in 4 sets

Goodbye dreams of glory, Lorenzo Musetti's adventure at Wimbledon ends in the first round. The Italian, who had not taken the field since the semifinal at Roland Garros against Carlos Alcaraz from which he withdrew due to injury, lost in four sets to the 33-year-old Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili (n.136 ATP) with the score of 6-2 4-6 7-5 6-1. Musetti, number 7 in the world ranking, last year at Wimbledon had stopped in the semifinal, beaten by Novak Djokovic.

The possibility of seeing an Italian derby in the second round therefore fades away: Basilashvili will challenge Lorenzo Sonego, fresh from his victory over Jaime Faria

"I'm really sorry - explained the Italian -, once I arrived here I had a week available and I felt bad, not because of my leg but because of a sort of intestinal virus in the days before the performances. The first part of the week had gone well, then in the last part I felt very empty and I brought this feeling of fatigue, tiredness and exhaustion with me today too. It hurts quite a bit".
