Grigor Dimitrov withdrew in tears due to injury in the match against Jannik Sinner, but the Italian tennis player also suffered physical problems during the challenge valid for the eighth finals of the Wimbledon tournament. An elbow injury that is making his fans a little anxious in view of the quarterfinal match against Ben Shelton (the American defeated Lorenzo Sonego in four sets).

Wimbledon, Sinner and the elbow injury, how is Jannik doing

"I'm not too worried," said Jannik Sinner, who had an uphill match, also due to his fall in the first game. The world number 1 tennis player had a bad elbow and needed the intervention of a physiotherapist during the second set.

"I looked at the footage again and the fall didn't seem that bad, but I felt it. It was uncomfortable when I hit a hard forehand and when I served. On grass you slip, these accidents can happen. Dimitrov was much more unlucky, he really hurt himself. I wish him a lot of luck from now on", added Sinner, who on the court - in the post-match interview - expressed his closeness to his rival: "He would have deserved to advance to the next round if he had had a chance. He played great tennis".

Sinner is preparing for Ben Shelton (match scheduled for Wednesday, July 9), but first, he needs to understand what the condition of his elbow is: "I'm not very worried - he explained to Supertennis - but in these situations sometimes I tend to be too positive. We'll do some checks and see how I am, I don't know if I'll be able to hit two balls today"

And he stressed: "we will do an MRI to see if there is something serious and then we will try to manage the situation."

Jannik has clear ideas about the match against Shelton: “You need to do well on the return. He has also improved a lot in his push from the baseline, after all he played a great match against Carlos in Paris, there too. He knows how to play on every surface. I faced him here last year and it was a very difficult match. We will see what awaits us, but in two days it will be tough. Now I have to focus on other things first and, hopefully, get to 100%”.
