Cuajimalpa promotes a crusade against breast cancer

Since women's health and the fight against breast cancer are a priority for Mayor Carlos Orvañanos, a series of initiatives have been launched in Cuajimalpa. These initiatives include registration for free mammograms, a plastic bottle cap collection campaign, hair donations, and free psychological care.
The mayor indicated that working with social organizations and the Mexico City government is essential, such as the plastic cap collection campaign, which generates funds to support treatments, medications, and support for people with cancer.
From today until October 30, the Cuajimalpa esplanade will offer women in Cuajimalpa the necessary tools for breast cancer screening, as well as guidance and follow-up in the event of a positive diagnosis.
We are working hand in hand with local and federal health authorities to achieve the goal of reaching 90 percent early cancer detection among women in Mexico. In Cuajimalpa, we have health campaigns aimed at them, and they will not be alone," she said.
Throughout this month, the mayor's office will offer haircuts of at least 15 centimeters, whether dyed or natural, which will be used to make oncology wigs and donated to women in Cuajimalpa who suffer from the disease.
One of our goals is also to become certified as a mayor's office to make these wigs year-round. We're also doubling our health campaigns every two weeks throughout the region."
Carlos Orvañanos announced that his administration will be strengthening its agenda to offer more mammograms in coordination with the Cuajimalpa health authority.
The reality is that we will have monthly mammograms within the mayor's office to cover more women, and health centers will schedule monthly screenings and care for them."
During Orvañanos' administration, 20,000 women have received care, and more than 600 have received psychological support, including mortuary care.
