The City Police have changed leadership and added new superintendents.

The City Police underwent a restructuring process with the creation of two newsuperintendencies and an Autonomous Directorate . The measure was implemented after Horacio Giménez took office as Minister of Security of the City of Buenos Aires. The changes have already been formalized and their respective chiefs have been appointed. The objective is to give greater authority to specific areas and strengthen internal control.

The appointments were formalized through a ministerial resolution and Institutional Agenda (ODI) number 91. The appointments of the new officials were detailed there.

One of the most important changes was the creation of the Superintendency of Special Units , which was now under the leadership of General Commissioner Martín Cornaglia . Until now, Cornaglia had headed the Autonomous Directorate of Government Protection and Security, which was absorbed into this new area.

The Emergency Prevention and Management Superintendency was also created, led by Chief Commissioner Laura Raquel Cesanelli . She held a position in the Operations Superintendency, which has now been assumed by Chief Commissioner Leonardo Ángel Gallego . These changes seek to optimize the response to critical situations.

Meanwhile, the Cybercrime Superintendency was downgraded to a directorate and absorbed into the Investigations Superintendency. Commissioner General Carlos Gabriel Rojas was appointed its new chief, replacing Fernando Gabriel Casteluche , who became head of the Complex Crimes Directorate.

Another significant change was the creation of the Autonomous Directorate of Internal Affairs , which replaced the previous Directorate of Professional Performance. This area will now have greater authority over internal investigations. Its head is Inspector Commissioner Ariel Kaplun , who had already held that position.

The City Police 's top brass remained unchanged. Diego Casaló remains the chief, and Carla Mangiameli is the deputy chief. Meanwhile, the remaining superintendencies—such as Community Security, Traffic and Transportation, Urban Order, Neighborhood Pacification, Forensic Police, and Domestic and Gender Violence—remain unchanged.

With this restructuring, the Buenos Aires Ministry of Security is seeking a more modern City Police Force , with better-defined areas and greater management capacity. The new superintendencies and the Autonomous Directorate are already operational and under designated leadership, in line with the order and control approach promoted by Javier Milei 's administration.
