Book Fair 2025: Today's Recommended Books, April 25

Although the official opening was yesterday, the 49th International Book Fair kicks off this Friday with a program offering something for everyone. From romance novels to the most intense aspects of the corruption that's destroying democracies, the presentations are a must-see. An interview with Marcelo Larraquy about his non-fiction book, Gordon , will take place on the Clarín/Ñ program at 6:00 p.m.

Early in the morning, at 4 p.m., an invasion of the living dead threatens to invade books and shelves at Ultrazombies at the Fair , a show by author and creator Pablo Enriquez , who will teach how to make a comic and draw zombies alongside his most terrifying characters. It will be held in the Future Zone of the Yellow Pavilion, organized by Ediciones de la Flor.

Also at that time, writer and journalist Sonia Budassi will coordinate a literary trip to Korea with the presentation of Generational Adventures: Korea and Beyond: Life Stories, literary tales in the Alejandra Pizarnik Room, organized by the Civil Association of Koreans in Argentina and KOWIN.

At 5:30 p.m., it will be the turn of justice, with the presence of prosecutor Diego Luciani , writer Santiago Kovadloff , and journalist Nelson Castro, who will discuss the book "Corruption, an Attack on Democracy and Human Rights" in the Carlos Gorostiza Room.
For fans of the Heartstopper saga, at 6 p.m. the topic will be diversity, mental health and everything that is good in the Youth Space with the presence of bookfluencers Tobbi García, Celeste Sawczuk (magical.stories_) and Delfina Garcia Lopresti (delfientrelibros), coordinated by children's and young adult book author Cris Alemany .

An hour later, it will be the turn of one of the Fair's international guests: translator and visual artist Keum Suk Gendry-Kim , known here for her exquisite graphic novel titled Grass , which is being joined by Dogs, Tomorrow Will Be Another Day , and The Wait (all by Penguin Random House). The author will be the featured speaker at the event Naming the Unnamable and will speak with Conicet researcher María del Pilar Alvarez in the Alfonsina Storni room.
Also at 7 p.m. , Spanish journalist, writer, and columnist Ángeles Caballero will be present to present Los parques de Atracciones también cerradan (Amusement Parks Also Close ) (Arpa), a first-person account of fear, old age, and illness, about how giving in is wearing yourself out. The event is organized by the Spanish Embassy and the Buenos Aires Spanish Cultural Center in the Adolfo Bioy Casares Hall.
At the same time, but in the Ernesto Sabato Room, the theme will be love. The presentation "Historical Romantic Novels: Readings to Move You" will bring together writers Mónica Letto, Graciela del Carmen Vidal, Mariana Sobrado, and Filomena Trivellone, coordinated by Tamara Sternberg.

And to close the day, a tribute to Chilean Roberto Bolaño in "266 Microdoses of Bolaño," where 266 authors from 26 countries write about, from, and about the work of Roberto Bolaño. This event, which begins at 8 p.m. in Zona Futuro, will feature 26 microdoses read by their authors, and a copy will be in circulation for anyone interested in reading to contribute their own voice.
