Banco Popular expands access to terminals as banking subagents

Banco Popular Dominicano, in partnership with AZUL , the commercial brand of Servicios Digitales Popular, and GCS International, announced the integration of AZUL 's payment terminals to operate as banking subagents .

Initially, 300 AZUL - affiliated businesses will offer the banking subagent service for Banco Popular , which in its first phase of implementation will enable them to process credit card, loan and service payments through payment terminals .

In a second phase, other features will be included, such as withdrawals , deposits , and, later, affiliation with prepaid wallets.

The goal is to expand this initiative to the thousands of AZUL- affiliated businesses across the country, thereby increasing opportunities for financial inclusion for the population, especially in areas with less access to traditional bank branches.

The adaptation of AZUL terminals as banking subagents is possible thanks to the Mi Punto platform , a technological network of GCS International , a subsidiary of Grupo Popular, which supports each transaction with security standards.

For its part, this integration with AZUL strengthens Popular's vision of bringing banking to people, using technology to create practical solutions that benefit both users and affiliated businesses , which, by becoming subagents, receive greater customer flow in their stores.

The Popular Subagent network has expanded steadily since 2014 and closed 2024 with 2,330 authorized affiliated merchants , representing a 17% growth compared to 2023, demonstrating its strong acceptance by customers for their daily financial transactions.

Banking subagents are a tool that promotes financial inclusion by bringing basic financial services to citizens through the businesses where people regularly shop.
