The end of piracy? One of the largest illegal IPTV distribution networks for watching soccer has been shut down.

Only one matchday into LaLiga, the organization has already achieved its first victory against piracy after arresting the creator of one of the largest websites for the massive and illegal broadcasting of football matches, among other content.

Piracy is one of the biggest problems facing copyright holders of football, music, and TV series and films. Although today there are all kinds of platforms offering services that make accessing these contents easier and faster, there are still many users who refuse to pay a subscription to access them.

This is because, for example, watching live football has become an increasingly expensive pastime, with almost €50 a month not enough to watch every game . This situation has led thousands of people to pirate all kinds of content, although football is the hardest hit.

As we mentioned , the fight against piracy has intensified significantly in recent years, and these copyright holders now have the support of the authorities and new systems for detecting and blocking websites and IPTVs that illegally share this content.

The hunt for pirates is intense, and as we've just learned, authorities have struck a devastating blow by dismantling and arresting the owners of one of the world's largest networks that offered copyright-free content.

He is the founder of the website "Al Angulo TV," accused of illegally broadcasting national and international soccer matches and high-profile sporting events, such as Formula 1.

The arrest was formalized after a police raid on the defendant's home in the city of Paraná, Entre Ríos (Argentina), where he had his laboratory. Computers, smartphones, and other technological equipment were seized, which he allegedly used to set up his illegal business broadcasting matches stolen from various programmers.

The judicial investigation was initiated by the Alliance Against Audiovisual Piracy (ALIANZA), in collaboration with one of its partners, LALIGA. Al Angulo TV operated some 14 domains that served as mirrors for replicating stolen content , and recently launched an Android app.

The accused goes by the nickname "Shishi" on social media and has profiles on multiple social networks and on YouTube, where he used to broadcast, especially on "X" where he recently defiantly reported that he had reached 100,000 followers, openly stating that he knew what he was doing but that "no one could catch him."

LaLiga thus makes a firm statement, demonstrating that its efforts to combat and hunt down piracy are bearing fruit, sending a serious warning to anyone involved in or using piracy.
