100 years of LMB feats: perfect games and no-hitters for the Saraperos de Saltillo

As the Mexican Baseball League (LMB) celebrates its centennial, it is worth highlighting one of the sport's most extraordinary feats: the perfect game.
Throughout its 100-year history, the LMB has witnessed 11 perfect games , each marking a milestone in Mexican baseball.
Perfect games in the history of the LMB
1.- Ramiro Cuevas – Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo (1953): On August 14, 1953, Cuevas pitched the first perfect game in the history of the LMB, beating the Diablos Rojos del México 1-0 at Parque Delta.

2.- Francisco Maytorena, Héctor Manuel Díaz and Nicolás García – Tigres Capitalinos (1971): On March 24, 1971, this trio achieved the only combined perfect game in the LMB, defeating the Rojos del Águila de Veracruz 3-0 at the Estadio del Seguro Social.
3.- Andrés Ayón – Saraperos de Saltillo (1972): On June 30, 1972, Ayón pitched a perfect game of seven innings against the Sultanes de Monterrey at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium.
4.- Diego Seguí – Cafeteros de Córdoba (1978): On June 21, 1978, Seguí pitched a perfect game of seven innings against the Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo in Córdoba.
5.- Horacio Piña – Rieleros de Aguascalientes (1978): On July 12, 1978, Piña pitched a perfect nine-inning game against the Diablos Rojos del México in Aguascalientes.
6.- Víctor García – Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo (1981): On April 26, 1981, García achieved a perfect game of seven innings against the Ciudad Juárez Indians in Nuevo Laredo.
7.- Jairo Valenzuela – Saraperos de Saltillo (1984): On June 10, 1984, Valenzuela pitched a perfect game of seven innings against the Cafeteros de Córdoba in Córdoba.
8.- Herminio Domínguez – Campeche Pirates (1985): On April 14, 1985, Domínguez pitched a perfect nine-inning game against the Córdoba Cafeteros in Campeche.
9.- Don Heinkel – Campeche Pirates (1992): On June 2, 1992, Heinkel pitched a perfect seven-inning game against the Diablos Rojos del México in Campeche.
10.- Óscar Rivera – Leones de Yucatán (2005): On August 7, 2005, Rivera achieved the only perfect game in the postseason in the history of the LMB, beating the Guerreros de Oaxaca 1-0 in Mérida.
11.- Pasqual Coco – Acereros del Norte (2006): On May 30, 2006, Coco pitched a perfect game of five innings against the Tigres de la Angelópolis in Puebla.
No-hitters in the history of the Saraperos de Saltillo
Throughout their history, the Saraperos de Saltillo have achieved seven individual no-hitters, one combined no-hitter, and two perfect games.
Single no-hitters:
1.- Tomás Armas – April 13, 1979 vs. Sultanes de Monterrey (9 innings).
2.- Rolando Menéndez – April 12, 1981 vs. Broncos de Reynosa (7 innings).
3.- Armando Reynoso – July 20, 1990 vs. Industriales de Monterrey (7 innings).
4.- Arturo Olmos – March 21, 1993 in Aguascalientes (7 entries).
5.- Mike Romano – May 20, 2001 vs. Sultanes de Monterrey (7 innings).
6.- Mike Romano – August 18, 2001 vs. Sultanes de Monterrey (9 innings, in Playoffs).
7.- Héctor Daniel Rodríguez – July 25, 2010 vs. Diablos Rojos del México (9 innings, in Playoffs).
Saraperos' combined no-hitter:
1.- Miguel Solís and Manuel Peña – March 25, 1979 vs. Ciudad Juárez Indians (7 innings).

A recent feat: Saraperos' no-hitter
Last Saturday, April 26, 2025 , the Saltillo Saraperos achieved a no-hitter against the Chihuahua Dorados in the second game of a series. Although it wasn't a perfect game, this performance highlights the quality of pitching in the LMB .
The heroes of this arduous battle were pitchers Kurt Heyer, Deolis Guerra, Mario Meza, Danis Correa, and Ryan Meisinger ; on offense, Alejandro Mejía, Renato Núñez, and Rusber Estrada responded impressively.
