Yucatan Lions lose another series

The Lions played a carbon copy of their home game against Querétaro the previous Saturday. Just like that day, they were shut out yesterday and looked soulless on offense.

The only thing that changed was the venue. A week ago it was at Kukulcán, a pitching park, and last night it was at the Eduardo Vasconcelos Stadium in Oaxaca, where the hitting is a joy.

Roberto Vizcarra's Warriors crushed them 10-0 to secure the series.

They only remain in sixth place because León keeps losing. But at this rate, watch out even for the Olmecas of Tabasco.

The Lions knew they were entering batting territory. But they failed to do so, and their opponent, who is playing good ball under the leadership of "El Chapo," has certainly done well.

And even worse for the Lions, they took the diamond with a patched-up lineup: infielder Leury García played left field (Wynton Bernard is still injured), Antonio Piñero played second base, and Wilmer Difó played shortstop, but Piñero was hit hard by a pitch and had to leave the game. His place was taken by Zach Remillard.

And in the first five innings, starter Edwar Colina tied them on two hits with seven strikeouts.

Hairy chaos

Yoanner Negrín was the opposite. Having pitched six perfect innings in his previous outing, he pitched fairly well in the first four innings (two runs) this time, but exploded in the fifth, scoring three more runs. This combined a poor performance from the bats with an unstable performance from "Asere."

Between Colina and the relievers, they managed to avoid taking damage from the poor jungle attack, which in other times would put on offensive displays at the "Eduardo Vasconcelos" stadium. They ate a delicious amount of hot chocolate (12 strikeouts) and ended up losing their fourth straight series.

Tommy Doyle will try to avoid a sweep by starting today for the Beasts.

In other results yesterday, the Quintana Roo Tigers fell 12-3 to the Mexican Red Devils, while the Puebla Pericos defeated the Veracruz Eagles 15-3. — Gaspar Silveira Malaver
