Five-digit salaries now in five Polish cities. Krakow pays the best

In an increasing number of cities in Poland, average salaries have exceeded the barrier of PLN 10,000 gross. Five-digit salaries in March 2025 were already paid in Katowice, Poznań, Warsaw, Gdańsk and Kraków. Exactly PLN 50.56 was missing in Wrocław. The average earnings of residents of this city amounted to PLN 9,949.44.

- In March 2025, it was the residents of Krakow who earned the most. The average monthly gross salary in the corporate sector was PLN 12,706.58 gross.
- The difference between the city with the best and worst pay was as much as PLN 5,579.13 gross. That's more than the minimum wage in 2025.
- More and more cities are also crossing the five-digit threshold. In March, more than PLN 10,000 was paid in five provincial capitals. The sixth, Wrocław, was just a little over PLN 50 short of overcoming this barrier.
The Central Statistical Office (GUS) has published full data on salaries in 18 provincial cities in Poland in March 2025. This month saw a historic record in terms of our earnings. For the first time in history, the average salary exceeded PLN 9,000 gross. According to the GUS, the average monthly gross salary in the enterprise sector amounted to PLN 9,055.92 at that time. This is 7.7% more compared to March 2024. In turn, compared to the previous month, it increased by 5.1%.
And although everyone was talking about crossing another threshold, labor market analysts pointed to something else - a slowdown in the pace of wage growth.
- March data on wages in the corporate sector once again confirm that the pressure to increase wages is decreasing. Actually, not only in the corporate sector itself, but in the entire economy. Employers are no longer as willing to raise wages, although at the same time, taking into account the demographic situation, wages are still "slightly" raised, especially in the most sensitive departments. In the coming months, the pace of wage growth in large companies will probably "stop" at the level we are currently observing - said Monika Kurtek, chief economist of Bank Pocztowy.
In five provincial cities, the average salary exceeded the barrier of PLN 10,000In March, not only was the total amount of wages in Poland a record.
