SG Sergeant Tomasz Roman serves at the border crossing in Korczowa. He has been a border guard for over 3 years. At the urging of the DKMS foundation, he recently joined the group of stem cell donors, wanting to win the fight for the life of one of the patients waiting for a transplant. The whole process took a while. He registered as a potential bone marrow donor in February last year, making a conscious decision. And after less than four months (!), which is not at all common, a phone call from the foundation rang. Mr. Tomasz received information that the parameters of the sample taken from the uniformed officer were consistent with the needs of one of the patients, and therefore the mission to find the patient's genetic twin was successful. For such patients, a transplant is often the only chance for recovery.
