Over 120 competitors lined up at the start of the jubilee, tenth edition of the Zbyszek Strzałkowski MTB Race in Oborniki Śląskie. The competition over two distances provided a solid dose of sporting emotions.

On June 28, 2025, Oborniki Śląskie once again became an arena of cycling emotions, hosting the jubilee, tenth edition of the Zbyszek Strzałkowski MTB Race. This unique event, organized by the Obornicki Rowerowy Association, commemorates the tragically deceased Zbyszek Strzałkowski and has attracted mountain biking enthusiasts from all over the region for years.

This year, over 120 competitors lined up at the start, competing in two distances: Mini (2 loops) and Mega (4 loops). The route, set in the picturesque surroundings of Wzgórze Grzybek, was dynamic, fast and – as assessed by the participants – perfectly balanced: technical sections intertwined with smooth sections that allowed for “catching the flow”. For many, it was not only a sporting test, but also pure pleasure from riding.

The race was open to both experienced competitors and amateurs who wanted to test their skills on a demanding but fully passable and safe route. The best received financial and material prizes, as well as commemorative cups in the individual age categories.

In the Mega distance, Jakub Kowalczyk from Kuźnia Młodygo Kolarza, a resident of Oborniki Śląskie, proved to be unrivaled, taking first place. Right behind him was Piotr Kobus from Świdnica (1st place in the M3 category), and third place was taken by Konrad Jeżewski representing Mitutoyo AZS Wratislavia Wrocław – a competitor from Siedliska (2nd place in the M2 category).

There was no shortage of excitement for the youngest. Children's races were held in parallel in four age groups - even toddlers on balance bikes stood at the starting line. Each child received a medal, and the loud cheering of families and spectators created an unforgettable atmosphere.

The event was accompanied by a family picnic – there was a bonfire, homemade pastries, ice cream, coffee from a mobile café and above all a great opportunity to spend time together. Safety was ensured by paramedics, scouts from the 4th Scout Troop "Quo Vadis" and volunteers from the association.

The weather was great, and spirits were high – it was warm, sunny and sporty, just as it should be during a successful cycling festival.
