PiS councillors oppose night-time prohibition in Szczecin
PiS councillors presented the club’s position on night-time prohibition and matters related to the city’s development.
Night prohibition in Szczecin? Everything will be decided on Tuesday, June 17 during the vote at the City Council session. Law and Justice councilors are against the project. They presented their position during a press briefing in front of the Szczecin city hall.
The content of the planned resolution is short: "During night hours, between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., it is prohibited to sell alcoholic beverages intended for consumption outside the place of sale within the Municipality of the City of Szczecin." Krzysztof Romianowski, PiS councilor, believes that the ban will not solve the problem of crime caused by alcohol consumption.
- The residents of Szczecin are adults and wise people. By introducing bans, the government treats us all like kindergarteners. Prohibition is not a solution to the problem of riots and crime outside stores selling alcohol. Crime should be dealt with by the police and city guards - says the councilor.
Krzysztof Romianowski also emphasises that it is impossible to punish all residents just because a small group of people has problems with the law.
- Night prohibition will not solve the problem of alcoholism either. There are appropriate institutions for that. Prohibition is only to show how much power the Civic Coalition - 19 councilors - has. The Civic Coalition councilors once again want to make the lives of Szczecin residents miserable - sums up Krzysztof Romianowski.
During the briefing, PiS activists also raised the issue of investment in infrastructure and education. According to politicians, the capital of Western Pomerania is currently experiencing stagnation. Maciej Kopeć, a PiS councilor, described the current situation as regression.
- The city clearly has a problem with obtaining funds. We are witnessing an investment stagnation - says Maciej Kopeć.
The councilors emphasized that the Civic Coalition ruling Szczecin takes credit for the PiS government's successes, by grandly completing investments started and financed before 2023, during the rule of their predecessors. ©℗
