The pilot program for the Local Government Water Trail has ended. How many people did the water tram transport?

The pilot program for the Local Government Water Trail, which connected Szczecin, Nowe Warpno, and Świnoujście throughout the summer of 2025, has concluded. According to organizers, the "Queen of Szczecin" water tram proved to be a summer hit.

The inaugural cruises were already extremely popular. During the first weekend alone, the "Queen of Szczecin" carried approximately one thousand passengers. Demand continued throughout the summer, with tickets sold out practically every weekend. Throughout the entire summer, approximately 6,000 people used the tram.

Strollers and bicycles were allowed on board, and the mini bar offered coffee, tea, and snacks. Cruises also provided excellent opportunities for nature viewing and photography. Passengers could observe barges, sailboats, and water birds, including white-tailed eagles and cormorants, up close.

The water tram was a popular choice for families, seniors, pet owners, and cyclists alike. Cyclists often combined the water and cycling routes, which they embarked on after reaching Nowe Warpno or Świnoujście. The holiday cruises were enjoyed not only by local residents but also by visitors from other parts of Poland.

What's next for the waterbus?

"At this time, no binding decisions regarding the project's future have been made," explains Shivan Fate, District Head of Police. "The pilot requires a detailed analysis, both in terms of traffic, passenger feedback, and financial aspects. This will serve as the basis for a decision on whether to continue and expand the project next year. For my part, I will certainly strive to ensure the water tram continues to operate and connects more towns," declares the District Head.
