Traffic and industrial noise not only harms people – it also disrupts the functioning of nature. It can affect animal behavior, make communication difficult, and even reduce biodiversity. Therefore, environmental education should include not only learning to recognize the sounds of nature, but also building awareness.
- The sounds of nature are one of the most valuable gifts we can offer a child - authentic, diverse and full of subtle nuances that no toy can replace - says Anna Weber, co-creator of Pomelody, expert of the Kubuś Przyjaciele Natury program. - Music teaches children mindfulness, and this is the first step to building a relationship with the surrounding world. Ecological education is most effective when it is based on emotions and experience - she adds.
And today, there is a great opportunity to enjoy the charms of nature. May 24th is European National Parks Day – a holiday reminding us of the importance of protected natural areas.
According to the Nature Conservation Act, a national park is an area distinguished by special natural, scientific, social, cultural and educational values, with an area of no less than 1000 ha. Within the PN, all nature and landscape values are legally protected.
Poland can boast 23 national parks , which cover nearly 1 percent of the country's area.
The oldest of them is Białowieża National Park , established in 1932 – a place where you can experience almost intact primeval forests and meet the largest population of bison in Europe.
In turn, Tatra National Park delights not only with majestic peaks, but also with the greatest altitude diversity among Polish parks. Słowiński National Park is the only place in Poland where you can see shifting dunes resembling a desert landscape.
Here is a list of all the national parks in Poland : Babia Góra, Białowieża, Biebrza, Bieszczady, Drawie, Gorce, Kampinos, Karkonosze, Magura, Narwiański, Ojców, Tuchola Forest, Table Mountains, Warta Mouth, Pieniny, Polesie, Roztocze, Słowiński, Świętokrzyski, Tatra, Wielkopolski, Wigry, Wolin.
