The trade war that is raging between the world's two largest economies can be analyzed in purely economic terms. President Trump raised tariffs on Chinese goods to 145 percent, the Chinese responded with tariffs on American goods of 125 percent. It seems that both powers are ready to let up a little now, because both lose in such a war. But even if it does, it is only a temporary ceasefire.
