On Friday, Michał Probierz's players won (friendly) against Moldova 2:0 - at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów. The goals for our team were scored by Matty Cash and Bartosz Slisz. Once again, the style of the White and Reds left a lot to be desired...
Above all, Friday's clash was Kamil Grosicki's farewell. "Grosik" played for the national team for the 95th time, and his most important statistics from that period were 17 goals and 24 assists.
Now it's time for a serious test! And the matches with the Finns seem crucial in the context of a possible qualification for the 2026 World Cup...
Let me remind you that only the winners of the 12 qualifying groups will secure direct promotion to next year's World Cup. In our group, it will most likely be the Dutch.
The 2nd placed teams plus the 4 best teams from the UEFA Nations League (which do not finish 1st or 2nd in their groups) will go to the play-offs. The 16 teams will be divided into 4 paths. The winner of each path will play at the 2026 World Cup.
So Poland absolutely has to take at least 2nd place. Most likely we will be fighting for it with the Finns, which is why Tuesday's match is so important!
So far, Michał Probierz's team has played 2 qualifying matches (6 points). In the first match (21.03.2025), the Poles defeated Lithuania 1-0 at home (Robert Lewandowski). Three days later, we won 2-0 against Malta in Warsaw (Karol Świderski twice).
However, these were not good matches for the White and Reds, and a large wave of criticism fell on the representatives. If Michał Probierz's team wants to beat Finland, they must play much better.
It won't be easy to win, because the team will have to cope primarily without Robert Lewandowski, who, due to fatigue from the club season... decided not to come to the June training camp.
The Finns also have 2 matches played in these qualifiers (4 points). First, the players of this team won 1-0 on delegation against Malta. Then they drew 2-2 away against Lithuania.
This match will be broadcast “live” on TVP 1, TVP SPORT, the TVP Sport website, on HbbTV, on smart TV and in the TVP Sport mobile application.
The clash will start at approximately 20:45 on Tuesday (June 10, 2025). Mateusz Borek and Grzegorz Mielcarski will commentate on the match.
