Football LK - Maccabi coach: Raków is a demanding rival
On the eve of the match, which will start at 9 p.m., the Israeli players held an official training session at the Raków Stadium.
The Israeli team arrived in Poland on Tuesday, and on Wednesday they laid a wreath at the monument to the Częstochowa Jews – victims of the Holocaust.
- We recommend: They've handed down a verdict after what happened at the Lech Poznań match. It's going to hurt.
The Argentine coach, who recently took over as manager of the fifteen-time Israeli champions and spent six years as assistant to his famous compatriot Marcelo Bielsa, emphasized that he has met hard-working Poles in many places around the world and knows that Raków's players work just as hard. Consequently, his team faces a difficult match against a demanding opponent on Thursday. "We have to be very focused and give everything we have to get the best possible result," Flores said.
He also pointed out that although he's only been in charge of Maccabi Haifa for a month and a few days, he has very intelligent players in the team. Both Israelis, who know what Maccabi Haifa means, and foreigners, who also strive to play to the best of their ability. This group includes players from Belgium, France, Spain, Ukraine, Senegal, the USA, and Curacao. Two of them have played in the top league: Kenny Seif, who played for Lechia Gdańsk, and Nahuel Leyva, a former Śląsk Wrocław player. The latter traveled to Częstochowa and trained with the team, but he will not play in the first match against Raków, as he is still serving a red card for a red card he received while playing for Śląsk against St. Gallen.
Journalists and photographers had the opportunity to observe the Israeli team's training session for fifteen minutes, which was also attended by former Polish national team coach Jerzy Brzęczek. He began his football career in Raków, and in 2000, playing for Maccabi, he became the Israeli runner-up. (PAP)
