Iga Świątek met with the Champions League finalist! The photo has already spread around the web
On Thursday, the Roland Garros 2024 bracket draw took place at the Jardin des Serres d'Auteuil in Paris. The ceremony was graced by the presence of two heroes of the sports scene: the defending champion, Iga Świątek, and PSG football star Ousmane Dembele, who hosted the ceremony as a special guest of the tournament. The Pole met her rivals, and the French winger... caught his breath before the Champions League final.
Świątek, who returns to Paris as the defending champion and four-time French Open champion, will face Slovakian Rebecca Sramkova in the first round. Before the tournament, the WTA published an updated ranking after the tournament in Rome - the Polish player dropped from second to fifth place. For the Raszyn player, this meant falling outside the top "four" for the first time since February 2022.
Dembele, on the other hand, is a newly crowned French champion with Paris Saint-Germain, who has appeared on the scene as a sports ambassador and representative of the hosts. The Frenchman has had a good season - in 47 matches he has scored 33 goals and provided 13 assists. His team not only won the domestic title, but also reached the Champions League final, where they will face Inter Milan. For PSG, this could be a historic night, and for the winger, a chance for the first European trophy of his career.

At the end of the ceremony, Świątek and Dembele posed for photos together with tournament director Amelie Mauresmo and the president of the French Tennis Federation Gilles Moretton.
Other Polish representatives are also ready to compete on the Roland Garros courts. Hubert Hurkacz, seeded 30th, was unlucky in the draw - his first opponent will be 18-year-old Joao Fonseca, considered one of the greatest talents in world tennis. Kamil Majchrzak, in turn, will face Hamad Medjedovic from Serbia in the opening round, thus bypassing the seeded players.
Among the women, the difficult draw of Magdalena Fręch is drawing attention. The tournament's "25" will play in the first round against the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, a three-time Grand Slam finalist. Magda Linette, on the other hand, faced the Dane Clara Tauson, who plays with the number 22 under her name. Linda Klimovicova also showed her good side - the young Pole advanced to the decisive round of the eliminations after a 6:2, 6:3 victory over the "fifth" seeded Mananchaya Sawangkaew. She is now just one won match away from playing in the main tournament. Roland Garros 2025 starts on May 25, and the finals are scheduled for June 8.
