This is how the Poles treated the Russian. He responded quickly
Wadim Tarasienko has been playing in the Polish league for a dozen or so years, but it was only the 2024 season that showed that he can regularly compete on equal terms with the best players in the world. The 30-year-old is meticulously pursuing his goal and making visible progress with each season, despite having lost the entire 2022 season and part of the 2023 games due to Russia's attack on Ukraine.
However, Tarasienko has been living in Poland for years, which helped him obtain Polish citizenship and, consequently, permission to compete in the Polish league. His current club GKM Grudziądz helped him with this.
Vadim Tarasenko was grateful to the GKM authorities"I would like to thank Mr. Zbyszek Leszczyński and the people involved in the process of obtaining Polish citizenship, as well as the entire GKM management and employees for being there for me and not abandoning me in difficult times!" wrote a delighted Tarasienko in January 2023, when it became clear that he would return to competing in the Polish league after a year's break.
"I am very grateful to you and I will give it my all in the next season. You saved me and I will never forget that!" - added Tarasenko and he kept his word, because he did not disappoint expectations in his debut season in the Ekstraliga in 2023, recording an average of 1.692 points per run, and in the next season he rode even better, achieving 1.861.
Knowing Tarasenko's enthusiasm, in the 2025 season he will want to improve his average even more and get closer to the magic barrier of 2,000. With such a disposition of the Russian with a Polish passport, his GKM could fight for a place in the TOP 4, which would give the Grudziądz team its second consecutive play-offs.
Tarasienko will be able to prove his usefulness to the team on April 11. GKM will face Włókniarz Częstochowa away in the first round. Last season, Tarasienko scored only five points in six starts at the KRONO-PLAST Arena, so this year he is probably counting on a much better performance.
