Undefeated Poland tops the Nations League! Another victory for volleyball players

In terms of the starting line-up, coach Nikola Grbić this time opted for the following formation: Michał Gierżot and Rafał Szymura (captain) in the receiving lane, Szymon Jakubiszak and Mateusz Poręba in the middle, Aleks Nasevich in the attack, Jan Firlej in the playmaking position and Mateusz Czunkiewicz in the libero position.
Nations League: Another victory for the Poles! Turks without a won setIt was already known before the match that Poland was the favorite to win the clash. For now, the Turks are mainly gaining experience in the Nations League. Without a single victory, taking the last, 18th place in the table, the Turkish volleyball players could only win something. But the Poles relatively quickly showed why they are at the other end, taking the position of the leader of the VNL 2025 table.
What is certainly valuable, in a broader perspective, is the fact that coach Grbić used the next players in match conditions. The previously mentioned Czunkiewicz got his time, Gierżot another chance. The latter deserves special recognition, considering that in the match with Japan he did not show himself from a good side - but against the Turks - he rehabilitated himself a lot for his earlier performance. Gierżot was heavily involved by the opponents in the element of receiving. In addition, he got his share from Firlej in the attack. In both cases, it is difficult to fault the former PSG Stal Nysa receiver.
Another successful entry, this time from a longer distance in the second set, was scored by Kewin Sasak . Aleks Nasevich, who returned to the court for the attacking Bogdanka LUK Lublin, also had his good moments from the beginning of the third set. And let's be honest, he showed off, among other things, a great series of effective serves (from 11:9 to 13:9), giving the Poles greater comfort in leading this match. Szymon Jakubiszak was also a plus. The middle blocker contributed not only in the offensive, but also with good work on the block.
It is possible that the Turks are currently two levels lower than the Poles. However, coach Grbić is able to squeeze his own from these tests, getting more valuable answers to questions. At the same time, getting to know new figures in the team. Especially in situations such as the ends of sets. On Saturday, the Poles played the first set with an advantage (28:26 after Gierżot's service ace), or a close score of 25:23 (here Gierżot's reception and Jakubiszak's effective middle block).
Captain Szymura adds his solid play in another match. And so we could add more elements to this increasingly pleasing to the eye mixture of youth and experience on the Polish side of the net.
VNL 2025: When is the next match of the Polish national volleyball team?On Sunday (i.e. June 15), the Poles will play their last match during the tournament in Xi'an, China. Coach Grbić's team's rivals will be Serbia. Interestingly, the Serbs have been led by a well-known PlusLiga coach since this season - Gheorghe Cretu. The former coach of ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów, among others, has taken on the task of pulling the national team out of a deep crisis... straight from the homeland of the coach who has successfully led the Poles.
When will the Poland vs. Serbia match be played? It will start at 1:00 p.m. Polish time. The Olympic vice-champions will fight to maintain their undefeated status after the first VNL 2025 tournament.
The match will be broadcast on the open Polsat channel, Polsat Sport 1, and online, for example via the Polsat Box Go platform.
