Wojciech Kwiecień in Wisła Kraków is my wish
The current season in the first league is so crazy, and Wisła Kraków's form so mysterious, that it is difficult to say how it will end. A year ago, Wisła celebrated victory in the Polish Cup, but at the same time took only tenth place in the league. After 12 months, it is better, but still not great, and Friday's match of the White Star in Tychy is a great material for drawing conclusions.
At the end of April in Nieciecza (2:2) we could see Wisła playing very well, but ineffectively, while the performance of Mariusz Jop's team during the first half of the last match against GKS was unwatchable. And how did the match end? Wisła won 2:0, which brings the Cracovians closer to the play-offs and distances the Tychy team from them. The team should do everything in the next two matches to strengthen its position and fight for third place, which will allow it to host the semi-final and final match in the play-offs. These will not be easy, Wisła remembers the disgrace against Puszcza Niepołomice (1:4) from two years ago. The fans first and foremost.
Sometimes in Ekstraklasa we have a problem answering who is the favorite, who can and who must. Maybe this big unknown, what is Wisła's game and form this season, is a chance for them to win two play-off matches and return to the elite after three years. Can Wisła advance? Yes, it can. Is it a hundred percent? No, because the four teams that will most likely fight for promotion will include teams better than the White Star.
The current Champions League games show that the best doesn't always have to win. Inter eliminated the stronger Barcelona and on May 31 in Munich will fight PSG for the Champions League trophy. Sometimes wisdom, tactics, experience can prevail in such situations. Just as Inter has Francesco Acerbi, Denzel Dumfries or Lautaro Martinez, the White Star has Angel Rodado, one of the best, if not the best player in the Betclic 1st League. It also has Alan Uryga, who has been associated with Wisła since he was a young man and really wants this promotion, it has a youth player Kacper Duda or Marko Poletanović. The fact that Wisła doesn't have to may be its advantage. We are waiting.
It's also interesting off the pitch. Wojciech Kwiecień sponsors Wieczysta Kraków, but he is also a great Wisła fan and there is constant talk of him potentially taking over the White Star. Mateusz Borek recently mentioned on the Sport Channel that the matter is not yet closed and it may happen that Kwiecień will appear at Reymonta as one of the owners.
The ideal dream for every Wisła fan is to advance to the Ekstraklasa and for Wojtek to take over the club, and for Wieczysta to become a satellite club and play for Wisła's youth or possibly those who don't make it to the first team of the White Star. In the second league Wieczysta would simply be paid what is due, i.e. what is earned in the second league, not in the Ekstraklasa. Wieczysta is still struggling in the third level of the game, it will most likely fight in the play-offs for the first league, the team is playing poorly and has recently lost a lot of points, and the plans to build a stadium have been put on the back burner.
The appearance of Wojtek Kwiecień as a decision-maker at Reymonta is my great wish. It would be a great move. I am convinced that if the club were to advance to the Ekstraklasa, then Wisła with Kwiecień's capabilities, with Jarosław Królewski and the people who developed this club, could shine in some time as it did 20 years ago. There is Kuba Błaszczykowski, there are the Brożek brothers, there is Mariusz Jop. There are many people around who would give their hearts for this club.
