Bust from Jim Morrison's grave recovered after 37 years. Police found it... by accident.

The grave of Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, is located in the famous Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris. This place attracts rock fans from all over the world. Morrison's grave was decorated with a white marble bust, but in 1988 it was stolen. After 37 years, the French police recovered the sculpture. However, it is not known whether it will be returned to the cemetery.
The sculpture, by Croatian artist Mladen Mikulin , was placed on Morrison's grave on the tenth anniversary of his death, July 3, 1981. In May 1988, the bust was stolen.
Just when many might have forgotten that Morrison's grave was adorned with a statue, French police declared a triumph. After 37 years, the sculpture was recovered . The bust was found by accident during an investigation by the police's financial and anti-corruption unit into another case - fraud.
Police posted a photo of the sculpture on social media. The bust does not appear to have additional damage. Morrison's nose is broken and the statue is covered in graffiti, but this is how the sculpture looked 37 years ago.
"The police have not contacted us, so I don't know if the bust will be returned to us," the administrator of Père-Lachaise told Le Figaro.
Morrison died in Paris on July 3, 1971. He was found dead in the bathtub of his apartment. He was 27 years old. There was no autopsy after the singer's death. Police concluded that the artist died of a heart attack after a drug overdose.
