Chopin Airport Incident. "Very Heavy Traffic Jams"

Important information for tourists flying out of Chopin Airport on Monday. Miejski Reporter informs that before noon it was necessary to evacuate the AB zone of the terminal, on the departures level together with the mezzanine and the departures level. The reason was unattended luggage.

The inability to enter the airport causes very large traffic jams.

"If you have the opportunity, use the SKM train: Warsaw Fast Urban Railway and Mazovian Railways - KM (the exit from the station directly to the terminal is blocked, but it is possible to bypass it after going outside)" - was posted on the official fanpage of the port. Passengers are asked to strictly comply with the instructions of the security services operating on site.

Flights are not being canceled. Considering the services' action, it is worth arriving at the airport earlier than usual.

Baggage left unattended. These incidents are recurring

Leaving luggage or packages unattended can seriously disrupt the functioning of airports, as it means initiating a number of security procedures. In December, a similar incident occurred at the airport in Łódź. The airport staff was left on their feet by a package that had been left there by a courier in a hurry . Pyrotechnicians, firefighters and the Emergency Medical Service arrived at the airport. The area around the airport was cordoned off and the contents of the package were checked. The inconspicuous white box was X-rayed by a pyrotechnician in a special outfit. Fortunately, it only contained fruit.

Leaving luggage unattended may result in a fine of PLN 500. In addition, the airport manager may seek compensation from the person who failed to supervise the suitcase or backpack for the costs of the action taken and the related inconveniences at the airport.
