One of them is Favignana – a small island off the coast of Sicily, which is increasingly appearing in online rankings of the most beautiful places to spend your vacation. Many tourists have not heard of this place yet.

Favignana will be a hit with tourists

While Sicily has no shortage of tourists, the small island of Favignana, just next door, is still a place to be discovered. It is the largest island in the Aegadian archipelago, located just a 30-minute hydrofoil flight from the bustling city of Trapani. Although it is only 37.45 square kilometers in size, tourists will find many natural and cultural attractions here. “Favignana is one of those places that can be explored in its entirety in a few days, but once you arrive, you won’t be in a hurry to leave,” writes the American website Travel Off Path.

Walking or cycling

Thanks to its small size, the island can be easily explored on foot. For active tourists, there are also many bike trails that can take you to the most beautiful beaches, such as Cala Rossa or Spiaggia Praia. History fans will also have plenty to do – the island's attractions include the 16th-century Santa Caterina Castle, the Church of San Giuseppe and the beautiful Florio Palace with its extensive gardens. Most importantly, on Favignana we can count on a truly peaceful tour, because Instagram users haven't arrived here yet. Watching the sunset from a viewpoint with a thousand other tourists , like on Santorini, is fortunately not a threat on Favignana.
